About Me
I am a cook and a baker, a beekeeper and a gardener, a maker of many creations. I am the healer of booboos for the littles around me and some of the bigs as well. I am an animal lover and in nature is where I am most at home, but most important, I am a wife and a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend.
Welcome to our journey!
Hello, I am Michele and my husband is Dave. We have 2 boys – grade 12 and kindergarten! Big age gap, I know! Eventually I will get into the story behind that but I will let you get to know me a bit better first – another journey of ours for later! During our years together as parents, we learned that things don’t always go as planned, but time sure does go fast – so don’t blink!
Dave and I have been together for over 20 years now, back when we first met – we were both just starting out. Looking back, I can’t believe how much we both have grown and learned but here we are – learning more! Both hard workers from the start, we have lived in many homes together and each one we made better but we grew out of fast. The last place we lived, before our Logan Farm was in a small town not far from where we are now. A quiet scenic little place along the Grand River surrounded by beautiful Ontario farmland. We loved it there, both our boys loved it to0! We lived in an old original farmhouse that needed a lot of work! So we fixed it up and it is a lovely home but we always felt like we didn’t have the room we needed to do the things that really spoke to our hearts – gardening, raising animals and the fresh open outdoors! In 2016, our search began – for the perfect country property! Our older son was in high school and as we didn’t want to switch districts – our search area was limited and our budget maybe not quite up to the area! As I said, we live in Ontario, so I am sure you know the word EXPENSIVE is an under statement and we had a budget that we needed to stick to!
Fast forward – 2 years later….
We found it! And it is perfect for us:) What we call Logan Farm, less than 10 minutes from our little town, in the beautiful farm country we love! There was quite a bit of planning that went into this move and that is a story I will get into in the future as it may help others looking to do something similar. So here we are – 3 years later and just catching our breath! This will be the 3rd year for our vegetable garden, we have healthy fruit trees and bushes that promise to give another great harvest, much to our delight. Our flock of chickens is flourishing, and just keeps getting bigger – can you say addiction, lol! And of course bees – which we are expanding this season.
I really hope you enjoy following us on this journey as we delve further into becoming more self-sustaining for food and we learn new skills on our way to this healthy lifestyle that we crave!
